Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
