'People are afraid' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

It's obvious why Arsenal stand as numerous fans' favorites to claim the Premier League during this term.

Examine their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have defeated all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race in the prior campaign.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), goals conceded (3), opposition efforts (72), shots on target faced (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the finest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their effectiveness from free kicks is highly documented, but competing clubs still struggle to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, several additional than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is wonderful to see."

Title Credentials

What is even more notable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across various contests

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now functioning with conviction and resolve.
