Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
